MEMBERSHIP TYPES

There are four classifications of membership in the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, (1) Member, (2) Junior Member, (3) Associate, and (4) Junior Associate.


MEMBER

To be eligible as a Member the applicant must be at least 14 years of age and a male descendant through either lineal or collateral lines of a soldier, sailor, marine or member of the Revenue Cutter Service. His ancestor must have been regularly mustered and served honorably in, was honorably discharged from, or died in the service of the United States of America during the War of the Rebellion between April 12, 1861 and April 9, 1865. The applicant must never have been convicted of any infamous or heinous crime; and who has, or whose ancestors through whom membership is claimed, have never borne arms against the Government of the United States of America.


JUNIOR MEMBER

A male less than fourteen (14) years of age and being a descendant through either lineal or collateral lines of a soldier, sailor, marine or member of the Revenue Cutter Service is eligible for membership. JUNIOR MEMBER requirements are the same as those for a Member.


ASSOCIATE 

A male who does not have a Union ancestor but wishes to support the order may join as an Associate. The Associate has the same camp voting and office holding privileges as a Member. To be eligible the applicant must be at least 14 years of age and must never have been convicted of any infamous or heinous crime; and has never borne arms against the Government of the United States of America.


JUNIOR ASSOCIATE

A male less than fourteen (14) years of age that does not have a Union ancestor but wishes to support the order may join as a Junior Associate.
